100 thoughts on “Should Americans fear automation? Andrew Yang says jobs are suffering”

  • Im not against people like jeff bezos etc getting rich, because they have earned it. However, there is a problem when they are bordering on monopolies, where there are automated warehouses, grocery stores, cars etc. They and these companies are sucking up all the resources and making huge profits while the rest are getting nothing but anxiety. Lets build a society where these companies are allowed to exist and grow, but also serve the people, and not just the ultra billionaires at the top. Lets automate away the warehouses, transport etc, and redistribute the money to the people who can then focus on more important things, like maintaining a stable and healthy society. Keep the communities clean, improve agriculture help out when help is needed. Working solely for money like we do today by having dumb jobs is not helping us progress. Oh and banks are getting more and more automated a swell, and so is the law professions.

  • Take a look at HK lately? Unemployment and underemployment is already starting to gut China's manufacturing-centered economy. American service-oriented economy will be automated away in 5-10 years. Got that long for us to do something before the riots start.

  • 230,900,000.00 eligible adults

    $2,770,800,000,000.00 gross cost @ $12k/per eligible adult

    600,000,000,000.00 offset welfare benefits

    $2,170,800,000,000.00 net cost

    paid for by:

800,000,000,000.00 increase in taxes – VAT

    $1,370,800,000,000.00 subtotal

700,000,000,000.00 savings in cost of homelessness, emergency room care, incarceration,
    $670,800,000,000.00 subtotal

800,000,000,000.00 increased revenue from 10 to 12% increase in GDP from healthier more productive citizens and taxes on top earners and pollution.*

$(129,200,000,000.00) it could more than pay for itself

  • Congratulations to Tucker for being honest and able to listen. I’m a hardcore conservative but Andrew strikes me as a independent in democratic clothing that I can get behind.

  • Listen man, anyone who can get Tucker to agree with them on just about every point deserves to have a go at the presidency…good luck Andrew!

  • I dont know, he raised his hand when the question was asked: "Do you believe in providing free healthcare to undocumented immigrants?"

  • To all Republican friends, if you support yang please register as a Democrat and support him in the primaries! A notable strength of the Yang campaign is his support from both sides of the political spectrum, so we can use all the help we can get!

  • Even though Yang would have no chance against Trump in the debates and I highly doubt he would win the primary. I am so happy that Tucker gave him the respect and time to articulate his points, it is common sense, so you have to wonder if a few people are getting it right and you think its right, why are the super super wealthy not getting it?? Because they dont need to worry Bout it.

  • Now we know whom Carlson would vote for in the primaries. Gabbard would be his second choice. Me too…

  • Tucker gets it. No other candidate is addressing the problem. Vote Yang. Hes offering real solutions.

  • Why can't the rest of the DNC see this? If you come onto a Conservative News Network, you'll get fair treatment and constructive criticism. Every Time he shows up, people make it very clear that he and any Democrat that's willing to speak constructively, is welcome any time. Tolsi Gabbard is the only other one to do this.

  • "I don't even know what you think on the other issues and I just support you on what you said so much."

    – Tucker Carlson to Andrew Yang, Democratic Presidential Candidate.

That is what we call building a consensus. Not left, not right. Forward.

  • I’m sure most likely won’t make it as president but Trump should bring him on in to help with this issue and the one with corporations arnt paying taxes.

  • The only Democratic Candidate who actually makes sense and does not seem corrupted like the other Democrats. Yang and Trump seem like the only good candidates.

  • This guy is real deal, thank you Tucker for having him on. Mr. Yang has refreshing look on things and he has my support!

  • Andrew Yang is the one to take on Trump. While others debate with emotions he does it with facts. He'll provide no fuel for Trump's fire of emotionally charged retorts. If the democrats will put aside their own personal agendas and look at what's best for the country they'll realize Yang is the best choice. I like Bernie and Warren too but I can see how a debate between either of them and Trump would be a hot mess. Yang is calm and collected yet clearly passionate

  • Let me see a dummy of a president who is dividing this nation. Who is narcissistic and self gloating. Or a very smart Asian American who is neither left nor right but forward thinking and offers real solutions to America’s problems. I say Yang in 2020. MATH. Make America Think Again…

  • If we vote for him in the Democratic primary, we will see yang vs trump in the debates, and in the general election.

We can only stand to gain, competition would make Trump to have an answer to these issues.

  • Andrew Wang is racist an coward. Because he said that white men are going to shoot everybody when all the jobs are gone.

  • Fox News is doing service to many Americans by allowing Andrew to speak while so called liberal media try to shut him down. Its time Americans choose a democrat nominee who believe in freedom, choice and the miracles of market and entrepreneurship.

  • yeah… Yang is running as a Dem, but he's really not one of them…. big hill to climb be he's got a real shot.

  • Wow a candidate talking about real issues that affect the American people and not focusing on sideshow issues

  • I am not afraid of A I or automation if it not integrate into nations defence, productivity is a core capitalism economy, and it is healthy, AI and automation is a product of capitalism model,
And please find a place for socialism, hehehe to give humanity, live long into time,
And UBI at a caped annual gross earnings ,for workers, is socialism move, hehehe i am sure it will balance capitalism nicely,
And it will save the capitalism model from it self.

  • Let Trump finish fixing what the Clintons ruined until 2024 and then have Yang come after to move us forward but he needs to have more love for the 2A

  • Brave for Tucker to have a serious & un-snarky discussion with Yang, a candidate on the opposite aisle at Fox… both men are good… Yang is a future thinker, even if he is affiliated as a Democrat

  • I’ve never seen so many good comments for a lefty on fox… yang is on another level. This guy is gonna unite us and push us forward.

    YANG 2020

  • This guy has actual solutions that can effect us immediately. All the other crap the other politicians say is a distraction. They offer ZERO solutions. This guy has my vote and donation

  • 3:45 Tucker knew that Andrew Yang didn't cited the unemployment statistic since Tucker believes that its stupid, so he tested him with that question. I like how impress he was when Andrew Yang was able to grasped the goal of that question and pointed it out to Tucker that he agrees with it as well, and wanted to make the statistic even clearer to the people.

  • It's blowing my mind that a democratic candidate has Tucker's respect. Andrew is not left nor right, he's forward!!!

  • I fully understand people who voted for Trump. When you lost you job and someone tells you "hey, I will turn time backward!" – that sounds nice. But in real life you can't. Robots will take our jobs, that's is fact. But, Yang's idea is to make turn it from a threat to a good thing. Universal Basic Income can sounds like a ridiculous idea, BUT remember that just little more than 100 years ago the pension on retirement was a ridiculous idea too. "What, you get paid just because you are old? That's stupid". Check Wikipedia – pension became a thing just 100 years ago. And now it's a normal thing. UBI was not possible in the past, but now, thanks to robots, we can make it. That's why robots can be a good thing, not a thread. UBI is a basically human right to live. If you think about it – a human must has a right not to die homeless when he loses job. So, anyway, in the future some sort of Andrew Yang will be a president. Not just in America. May be not this particular Andrew Yang, may be not in 2020, but that's the future. Face it. And vote for Andrew Yang

  • And Coca Cola killed the soda shops 100 years ago.
And McDonalds killed small diners 50 years ago.
And Macys killed mom and pop stores long ago.
And Sears catalogues killed small retail businesses about 75 years ago.
And the internet made newspapers almost obsolete.
And Youtube has cut down TV viewership.
    It's called progress, Andrew.

Business is tough. Always has been…always will be.
This is all a smokescreen created by the Dems and perpetuated further by Mr Yang.

  • It's called "progress," Andrew.

They said the same thing about the printing press.
    The motor car.
    The word processor.
The assembly line built by Henry Ford over 100 years ago.
    The internet.

  • No clue who the interviewer is, but I had the same reaction to Yang when I watched his Joe Rogan interview. Finally a political candidate with a brain!

  • my only issue is
I have no idea where he stands on foreign policy. I guess what I'm saying is he should be in the white house, just not sure, at this point, if his office should be the oval one

  • Expanded automation
Automated away 4 million manufacturing jobs
    Truck drivers
    Retail workers
Save 10s hundreds of millions of dollars

    Self driving cars

  • We haven’t heard from his wife yet cos it seems like she likes staying behind-the-scene but when he told her he’s running for president, she said he is serving a higher purpose and that she is supporting him because she could feel this is his calling. Let’s make him the President! 💖

  • There are delivery bots at the closest college to me, and of the two people, in my area, I’ve heard died recently from drug overdoses, one was someone who I played Pokémon go with occasionally.

I like the delivery bots; they’re fun to watch every time I see them, but if this happens on a large scale then an entire classification of job will probably go extinct after a while. The other Pokémon go player who died of a drug overdose was in her 20s.
