Editing Feature Services – Connect To National Incident Feature Service – GISS Introductory Class

– [Instructor] This is a
geospatial training video for the GISS introductory
class recorded November 2017. In this video, we will be discussing editing feature services. Specifically connecting to the National Incident Feature
Service hosted by EGP. Our objective for this
video is to demonstrate how to setup a new connection to the Nation Incident Feature
Service through ArcCatalog. For this demonstration, I’ll be working in ArcMap in the catalog window. However, the process is the same in the ArcCatalog standalone application. I’ve pinned the catalog
window open here on the right. And I’m gonna go to GIS Servers and Add ArcGIS Server. You’re gonna leave the
first option here checked, Use GIS Services. Click Next. And at the top here, we’re gonna add the url for the EGP server. For authentication it’s going to be your EGP user name and password. Make sure and leave Save
Username and Password checked. And click Finish. As you can see, it’s added a new connection here that’s already active. So, when I open that up,
there are several options: GIS, IMT, System, Utilities. The one we’ll be using is under GIS and it’s Even_GISSEdit_Open. As you cans see there
are two services here. The one we want has the little box on it. This is the feature service and is the one that allows editing. I can add this feature service to the map by simply dragging and dropping. And Event Point, Event
Line, and Event Polygon all appear in my table of contents. By switching to the list by source view, we can see that this data
is indeed coming from EGP. To edit the data, simply follow the instructions in the creating
a local copy presentation. Thanks for watching.
